EmDash Guides

Explore publishing with EmDash, Astro, and Cloudflare from the ground up.

EmDash is a content management system for Astro sites. It combines a private editor with collections, rich text, media, taxonomies, and publishing workflows.

Your content lives in a database, while the site's templates decide how it appears. That makes the content model and theme useful parts of the platform decision.

Understand the Setup

EmDash can run on Node.js or Cloudflare Workers. The Cloudflare setup uses a D1 database for content and R2 for media.

  • Collections define the kinds of content an editor can manage.
  • Drafts and revisions separate editing from the published version.
  • Taxonomies organize posts into categories and tags.
  • Templates query published content when the site renders.

Choose It With the Work in Mind

Check whether its editor, integrations, and theme development fit your workflow. A different CMS also means a different set of tools and maintenance habits.

Keep the database, media, and encryption key in your backup plan. Test the publishing and recovery paths before relying on the site.
